Volkswagen Atlas Incident

The driver/owner of the vehicle called to inquire whether or not they had "Gap" insurance. VWGoA does not have access to customer's insurance details. Additional information gathered during the phone call indicate that the customer was traveling on the highway with adaptive cruise control, then went off road, and hit a side guard. The vehicle was towed and determined to be a total loss. There were no additional parties involved or any injuries noted by the customer. The insurance company has since totaled the vehicle and sent it to auction. Online photos from the auction show signs of a rollover and airbag deployments. As noted, the customer did not allege any injuries or medical treatment. The features active leading up to the incident are not known at this time. The vehicle is no longer in possession of the customer, and it is noted that further investigation by VWGoA will be conducted if the insurance provider decides to subrogate VWGoA. The vehicle is equipped with SAE L2 systems, and is being reported out of abundance of caution as the the photos from the auction show a "Lane Assist not available" message in the dashboard.
