Technical Service Bulletins
TSBs are notices issued by manufacturers to dealerships describing known issues and recommended fixes. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory โ but they often reveal important safety-related patterns.
โ ๏ธ Data Integration In Progress
We're working on integrating NHTSA's full TSB database for autonomous driving systems. In the meantime, you can search TSBs directly on NHTSA's website.

TSB vs. Recall
Recalls are mandatory safety fixes. TSBs are optional โ manufacturers notify dealers of known issues, but owners aren't always informed.
Why They Matter for AV Safety
TSBs often precede recalls. A pattern of TSBs for phantom braking or sensor issues can signal a systemic problem before NHTSA opens a formal investigation.
How to Use Them
If you own a vehicle with ADS/ADAS, check for TSBs regularly. Dealerships may apply fixes for free even though they're not required to.
AV-Specific TSBs
TSBs for Autopilot, FSD, Cruise, and Waymo systems often address software calibration, sensor alignment, and edge-case behavior improvements.
Notable AV/ADAS-Related TSBs
Tesla Autopilot โ Forward Collision Warning Sensitivity Calibration
Addresses FSD Beta false positive FCW alerts causing unnecessary braking events.
Tesla โ Autosteer Disengagement at Highway Speeds
Software update to address unexpected Autosteer disengagement on highway curves.
Tesla โ Phantom Braking Under Overpasses
Camera vision system misinterpretation of overhead structures triggering emergency braking.
Tesla FSD Beta โ Intersection Navigation Improvements
Updated path planning for unprotected left turns at intersections.
GM Cruise โ Lidar Sensor Recalibration
Lidar alignment procedure after post-incident analysis revealed sensor drift.
Waymo โ Pedestrian Detection Edge Cases
Improved detection algorithms for pedestrians in low-light crosswalk scenarios.
Tesla โ Regenerative Braking Interaction with Autopilot
Addresses unexpected deceleration when regen braking activates during Autopilot cruise.
Tesla โ Camera Obstruction Detection Enhancement
Improved alerts when camera occlusion (rain, fog, glare) degrades Autopilot performance.
