Peterbilt 579 Epiq Incident

The content of this report is unchanged from the initial report submitted on February [XXX], 2022 [Report ID #30270-2258-1]. On February [XXX], 2022 at 10:30 AM PST a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle ('Waymo AV') Peterbilt Class 8 semi-truck and trailer, operating in Gila River, AZ was in a collision involving a box truck on [XXX] south of [XXX]. The Waymo AV was traveling southbound on [XXX] in autonomous mode in the right lane, and a motor coach followed by a box truck were traveling in the adjacent left lane. Traffic in the left lane began to slow and the box truck steered to the right and crossed into the right lane before making contact with the passenger side rear corner of the motor coach and then making contact with the driver side rear axle of the Waymo AV trailer. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV was in autonomous mode, and a test driver was present (in the driver's seating position). The Waymo AV trailer, motor coach, and box truck sustained damage. Waymo is reporting this crash under Request No. 1 of Standing General Order 2021-01 because a vehicle involved was towed away.
