JLR I-PACE Incident

On December [XXX], 2024 at 6:59 PM PT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle ("Waymo AV") operating in Los Angeles, California was in a collision involving a delivery robot on [XXX] at [XXX]. The Waymo AV was traveling eastbound on [XXX] with its right turn signal activated, preparing to make a right turn with a green light at the intersection with [XXX]. As the Waymo AV began making the right turn onto [XXX], a delivery robot was proceeding across the crosswalk, facing a steady red hand do not cross sign. The delivery robot stopped in the intersection in the left most lane of [XXX], and the Waymo AV proceeded to begin making the right turn into the right most lane. The delivery robot then started proceeding across the crosswalk again as the Waymo AV was turning and the front of the Waymo AV made contact with the crossing delivery robot. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. The Waymo AV and the delivery robot sustained damage. Waymo is reporting this crash under Request No. 2 of Standing General Order 2021-01. Waymo may supplement or correct its reporting with additional information as it may become available.
