KENWORTH T680 Incident

The subject vehicle was traveling at 64mph in the center eastbound lane on [XXX] near [XXX], having recently passed a pickup truck (vehicle #2) towing a trailer in the right lane. A large piece of road debris in the right lane caused vehicle #2 to slow and veer onto the right shoulder. A second piece of large road debris was observed by the subject vehicle's operator ("VO") in the center lane approximately 80 meters ahead of the subject vehicle. The VO took control of the truck and began to steer the subject vehicle to the right, but upon seeing vehicle #2 accelerating and re-entering the right lane from the shoulder, the VO instead steered the subject vehicle into the left lane. After passing the debris, the subject vehicle returned to the center lane and continued driving eastbound on the highway. A post-event review of the subject vehicle's cameras showed an ambulance with its emergency lights off (vehicle #3) was traveling in the left lane to the rear of the subject vehicle as the subject vehicle began entering the left lane. When the subject vehicle entered the left lane, vehicle #3 maneuvered onto the left shoulder and came to a stop alongside the median. The subject vehicle made no contact with vehicle #2 or vehicle #3. PlusAI has not been contacted by any road user with regard to this event.
