Ford F-150 Incident

On July 3rd, 2024, Ford Motor Company received notice of VOQ 11596168. In the VOQ, the driver claimed that BlueCruise hands-free mode was active when the vehicle veered to the right and collided with the guardrail. NHTSA ODI also contacted Ford Motor Company on July 3rd, 2024, to confirm awareness of the VOQ and provided a copy of the police report. The police report disclosed additional details, indicating that the vehicle initially collided with the left-rear of a semi-truck in the adjacent lane before veering further to the right and striking the guardrail. According to the police report, no airbags deployed, no injuries were reported, and the subject vehicle was towed following the incident. Ford is currently investigating the incident and has confirmed that the vehicle was equipped with ADAS Level 2 and BlueCruise. Connected vehicle data suggests that BlueCruise was active during the drive but not within the 30 seconds immediately prior to the incident.
