CADILLAC ESCALADE Incident

On 4/[XXX]/2025, a 2021 Cadillac Escalade was traveling south in the far-left lane on [XXX] (Avocado Highway) in Fallbrook, California with Super Cruise engaged and active. According to OnStar audio recordings, the driver reported reaching over to the front passenger seat to retrieve an item and claims the vehicle turned left into the highway barrier. According to telematics, crash data indicated a left side impact that deployed the side airbags and front seat belt pretensioners. The driver was not wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash. Telematics data indicates Super Cruise entered a Degraded Escalation state approximately 9 seconds prior to the crash due to the driver seatbelt being unbuckled. Additionally, a Disabled/Not Ready state was recorded approximately 6 sec prior to the crash due to a driver take over of the vehicle, the vehicle was traveling at approximately 67mph at this time.
