GMC Acadia Incident

On June [XXX], 2025, a 2025 GMC Acadia was traveling north on [XXX], just north of [XXX] in southern Illinois. EDR data indicates a frontal impact that deployed the front seat belt pretensioners and frontal airbags. The driver and right front passenger were buckled at the time of the crash. According to telematics data, Super Cruise was engaged and active 6 seconds prior to the crash. Approximately 5.9 seconds before the crash, Super Cruise entered an override state due to the detection of hands on the steering wheel and steering wheel torque, followed by a disabled/not ready state due to a brake pedal press at approximately 5.7 seconds prior to the crash. According to the OnStar recording, the subject vehicle collided with another vehicle that was recently involved in a crash ahead of it.
