Chevrolet Bolt Incident

On December [XXX], 2023, a 2022 Bolt EUV was traveling north on [XXX] in San Juan Bautista, California with Super Cruise active and engaged. According to the OnStar call, the driver claims he hit another vehicle and reported that he may have a broken wrist, but declined an ambulance. According to vehicle EDR data, a brake pedal activation and a counterclockwise turn of the steering wheel was recorded one second prior to the crash. The front driver air bag, seat belt pretensioner and a right side air bag deployed. The driver was buckled. GM was originally notified of this incident on December 28, 2023. At the time of the original assessment, the telematics data indicated Super Cruise was not engaged and active. GM received new information and confirmed on April 29, 2024, that Super Cruise was engaged and active prior to the incident and reported this incident on May 2, 2024. Additional data evaluated on October 24, 2024 confirms a brake pedal activation and a counterclockwise turn of the steering wheel one second prior to the crash.
