Subaru Crosstrek Incident

The customer is not alleging any vehicle defect and had contacted Subaru to inquire whether Subaru would reimburse hotel costs. Based on the limited information provided by the customer, the subject vehicle was travelling southbound on a highway in the greater Indianapolis area when traffic came to a sudden stop. After the subject vehicle came to a complete stop, a vehicle following behind the subject vehicle failed to stop and struck the subject vehicle in the left hand rear bumper and wheel. The customer estimated the speed of the other vehicle to be 40 MPH. During a conversation with a Subaru Customer Advocacy representative, the customer answered in the affirmative that Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Centering (LC) were engaged. The customer also responded affirmatively to the question "Were any vehicles (including other vehicles) towed?". This vehicle is not equipped with a telematics system. Upon the suggestion that she would need to contact her insurance company in order to provide reimbursement for a hotel stay, the customer disconnected from the conversation.
