Narrative
On January [XXX], 2025, at approximately 10:33 AM ET the subject vehicle was traveling straight with highway assist (HWA) engaged at a speed of approximately 60 mph in the far right lane. According to the police report and as shown in the rear facing video recorded by the Rivian an SUV rapidly approached the Rivian from behind and made an unsafe lane change, striking the left rear quarter panel of the Rivian in the process. Rivian agrees with the assessment of the police report that the unsafe lane change of the other driver was the cause of the accident. The HWA system was not a contributing factor to the incident.
