PETERBILT 579 Incident

At approximately 12:03 PM CST on September [XXX], 2025, an Aurora truck with an Aurora ride observer seated inside was traveling southbound on [XXX] in autonomy in Spring, Texas when it struck a mattress box spring in its travel lane. As a preceding light-duty vehicle suddenly slowed and abruptly nudged in its lane, a mattress box spring was revealed on the roadway. As designed, the Aurora truck slowed but due to surrounding actors and travel speed, it elected to drive over the object. After the impact, the Aurora truck pulled to the shoulder in autonomy. Once stopped, the Aurora ride observer inspected the Aurora truck for damage and reported to internal dispatch that the air dam on the front bumper of the vehicle was damaged. The Aurora ride observer then drove the truck in manual to Aurora's terminal in Houston. No injuries were reported.
