Narrative
On December [XXX], 2025, Ford received notification of an incident, involving an 2025 F-150. The incident occurred on December [XXX], 2025. According to the driver's account, the vehicle was traveling northbound on [XXX], occupying the leftmost lane of a three-lane highway. The driver reported that BlueCruise was engaged at the time.
As the F-150 approached the on-ramp leading to [XXX], the driver observed that the vehicle immediately ahead had abruptly changed lanes to avoid stopped traffic. The driver stated that he took manual control of the vehicle, applied the brakes, and steered into the center lane. While executing this maneuver, the F-150 was struck from behind by a trailing vehicle. The impact propelled the F-150 forward, resulting in a second collision with the vehicle in front of the F-150.
The F-150 driver reported that the driver of the vehicle that rear-ended the F-150 experienced an airbag deployment, sustained injuries, and was transported to the hospital. No other injuries or airbag deployments were reported as a result of the incident.
Given the F-150 driver's assertion that BlueCruise was active prior to the incident, Ford conducted a search for connected vehicle data associated with the event. Ford's analysis of this data confirms that ADAS L2 (BlueCruise) was engaged within 30 seconds before the collision and that BlueCruise disengaged when the driver pressed the brakes, approximately seven seconds before the F-150 was rear-ended.
