CHEVROLET Traverse Incident

On January [XXX], 2026, a 2026 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling eastbound on [XXX] in Kosciusko, Mississippi, with Super Cruise engaged and active. Super Cruise changed to a Disabled/Not Ready state 3 seconds prior to the crash due to a brake pedal press and potentially also the driver taking steering control. Crash data indicated a frontal impact occurred that deployed the front seat belt pretensioners and driver frontal airbag. The driver was not wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash. According to OnStar recordings, the advisor indicated the driver was unresponsive; the vehicle had struck a tree, and that bystanders and first responders were on the scene providing assistance. According to news reports, the driver was transported to the hospital via an ambulance and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
