Narrative
On June [XXX], 2024, a 2023 GMC Sierra was traveling North on [XXX] in the far left HOV lane with Super Cruise engaged and active. According to telematics data, Super Cruise entered a Degraded Escalation state 20 seconds prior to the crash and entered a Disabled/Not Ready state 16 seconds prior to the crash due to the driver taking control of the vehicle. The driver described veering to the left and striking the cement median barrier to avoid a vehicle entering his lane from the right. The vehicle's seat belt pretensioners deployed. The driver-side roof rail air bag seat side thorax bag deployed. The vehicle was traveling approximately 55 mph prior to the crash.
