Narrative
The customer was driving on a freeway in Mexico on a rainy day with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS) engaged, resulting in an accident. He confirmed the accident occurred on 1/[XXX]/24, between 1:45 AM and 2 AM, on [XXX] in Rosarito, Mexico. The customer was driving with the ACC set between 50-55 MPH. He was about to change lanes with the right turn signal on when the LKAS pulled the vehicle to the left. He attempted to correct the steering to the right, but the vehicle hydroplaned, went into a rest stop area, and collided with a semi-truck. The accident resulted in injuries to the customer. It was raining when he was changing lanes on the highway, and the LKAS pulled the steering wheel back. When he pulled the wheel back, the vehicle hydroplaned, causing a collision with a parked semi-truck. All airbags deployed, and he was the only person in the vehicle. He suffered injuries to his head, neck, and hand. His insurance at the time was Statefarm, and he blames the lane assist feature for the incident. The report was updated to correct the time of the incident from 13:45 to 01:45.
