Narrative

On January [XXX], 2026, the customer submitted a Web Note to Kia regarding their 2025MY Kia EV6, alleging that earlier that day, they were driving home with cruise control engaged when the vehicle “stopped,” “started br[a]king,” “shifted,” and “collided with another driver.” The customer was transported to the hospital and alleged sustaining a broken thumb and minor concussion. The customer requested a “vehicle swap or buyback.” On January 20, 2026, Kia’s Customer Care Center contacted the customer to request additional information. The customer indicated that Highway Drive Assist (“HDA”) was engaged. The customer stated they were “traveling straight with cruise control on and while driving straight[,] the cruise control said deactivate and it drifted[,] semi hit me.” The subject Kia EV6 is equipped with HDA, which is a supplemental system that helps maintain a set distance and speed from the vehicle ahead when driving on a highway and helps keep the vehicle between lanes while driving. HDA may not be able to recognize all traffic situations and may not detect possible collisions due to limitations of the system. Kia has no further information at this time. *** Monthly Update Report *** On January 22, 2026, KA received photos of the vehicle from the customer. KA had been working to arrange an inspection of the subject vehicle. However, KA was informed that the vehicle was sold and will not be available for inspection. KA has no further information.
