TOYOTA Highlander Incident

A Zoox vehicle (Vehicle 1) operating in autonomous mode was traveling northeast on [XXX] toward [XXX] in San Francisco. At that time, an SUV (Vehicle 2) traveling ahead pulled into the parking lane on the right. Just as the Zoox vehicle was approaching, Vehicle 2 suddenly swerved into the Zoox vehicle's lane without using a turn signal. The Zoox vehicle braked hard and attempted to steer left to avoid the collision. The vehicle operator then disengaged autonomy and continued braking, but contact was unavoidable. The left front of Vehicle 2 struck the right front of the Zoox vehicle. The Zoox vehicle sustained moderate damage, and the right rear passenger reported "experiencing soreness" after the collision. The police were not called.
