Cadillac Escalade Incident

GM is submitting this report to update the Subject Vehicle "Was Vehicle Towed" field from "Unknown" to "Yes" based on new information in a police report. On April [XXX], 2024, a 2021 model year Cadillac Escalade was traveling west on [XXX] in Denver, Colorado in the farthest left lane. According to the OnStar call, the driver claims he reached for a water bottle in the side door while the vehicle was in Super Cruise and then the vehicle crashed into the left median guardrail. According to vehicle telematics, the driver side and frontal airbags and pretensioner deployed. Super Cruise was engaged and active for 3 seconds prior to the crash and an override state was recorded approximately 1.5 seconds prior to the crash. A subject vehicle speed of approximately 50 mph was recorded at 1.5 seconds prior to impact.
