CHEVROLET Traverse Incident

On November [XXX], 2025, a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling northbound on [XXX] in Tampa, Florida, with Super Cruise engaged and active. Crash data indicated a frontal impact occurred that deployed the front seat belt pretensioners and frontal airbags. The driver and front passenger were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. According to OnStar recordings, the driver reported hitting a motorcycle, that subsequently caught fire. The driver also reported that the motorcyclist may have a shoulder injury, but it is unknown if they were transported to a medical facility. Super Cruise changed to a Disabled/Not Ready state 1 second prior to the crash due to a brake pedal press. Update: On January 22, 2026, GM received the police report which indicates the motorcycle driver lost control and overturned, causing the driver to fall off the motorcycle and land on the left shoulder. The motorcycle came to a rest in the right lane facing west and was obstructing traffic. Several moments later, the Traverse collided with the motorcycle causing the motorcycle to be propelled into the right shoulder and catch fire. The Traverse then ran off the roadway on the left shoulder impacting the guardrail. Police report indicates that the motorcycle driver was transported to a medical facility.
