Cadillac Escalade ESV Incident

This is an update to a 5-day report submitted on July [XXX], 2024. On July [XXX], 2024, a 2022 Escalade ESV was traveling south on [XXX] in Brookston, Indiana with Super Cruise engaged and active. Crash data indicates a frontal impact with seat belt pretensioner and air bag deployments occurred. Occupants in the driver and passenger seat were wearing seatbelts. According to Super Cruise telematics data, approximately 18 seconds prior to the crash, Super Cruise detected a distracted driver. At approximately 15 seconds prior to the crash, Super Cruise state of Disabled/Not Ready was recorded, indicating a driver takeover of the vehicle. A subject vehicle speed of approximately 82 mph was recorded 11 seconds prior to the crash. A copy of the police report reviewed by GM on August 26, 2024 confirms that the subject vehicle rear-ended a 2021 Peterbilt 579 commercial truck. The police report also confirms that both occupants of the subject vehicle were transported by ambulance to a hospital and that the subject vehicle was towed.
