GMC Sierra 1500 Incident

GM is submitting this report to update the "Highest Injury Severity Alleged" field, subject vehicle "Was Vehicle Towed?" field and to identify the non-subject vehicle type in the narrative since the previous submission (540-7305-1) on March 15, 2024. On the afternoon of March [XXX], 2024, a 2023 model year GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab was travelling northwest on [XXX] in Newport, Michigan with Super Cruise engaged. According to the OnStar call, the driver claims to have been tired and closed his eyes for a second and then hit a arrow notification trailer of a stationary road patching dump truck. Telematics data indicates an impact to the driver side front corner at 1:19:31 PM EST. Telematics data also indicates the driver and passenger front and side airbags and seat belt pretensioners deployed. Super Cruise was active 91 seconds prior to crash and was disabled approximately 1 second prior to crash. The last recorded vehicle speed was 61 mph at five seconds prior to impact.
